Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will work alongside healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care and support in a surgical setting. The Medical Assistant works directly under the Director of Clinical Nursing (DOCN) per the policies and objectives of the center such that CLC provides a safe, efficient, and compliant environment for patients, staff, and surgeons. On surgical days he or she provides patient care under the supervision of RN, CRCST, CST or MD during surgical events. This includes but is not limited to; assessment of patients, providing direction to patients, cleaning instruments, opening packaging in OR, and managing patient flow. On non-surgical days he or she will prepare surgical charts for RN transcription, communicate needs to respective offices, and make pre-op patient phone calls.

· Preparation of complete surgical charts in time frame set by Management.

· Pre-operative phone calls to surgical patients to communicate arrival time and pre-surgical instructions.

· Assist with preparation and processing of patients through their surgical event.

· Assist in the central sterilization room under the direction of the CRCST.

· Assist with room turnover between cases.

· Ensure that all paperwork reads the correct name, DOB, surgeon, and procedure.

· All paperwork is to be placed in the appropriate order in the chart.

· Write out lens cards.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare surgical charts.

· Submit missing needs lists to surgeons’ offices.

· Make pre-operative phone calls.

· Admit patients to drops area.

· Assist with discharge/post-op of patients.

· Assist with patient flow to and from ORs

· Put away stock and dispose of excess shipping material.

· Always maintain a safe and clean work area, clean up after yourself in all communal areas of the CLC

· Attending training, in-services and staff meetings.

Physical Demands:

This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching as well as lifting and supporting patients

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
